CNPC signs agreement to buy gas from Uzbekistan
日期:10-06-24
State-owned China National Petroleum Corporation, the parent company of
oil giant PetroChina, has signed a framework agreement with Uzbekneftegaz to
buy 10 billion cubic meters/year of natural gas from the central Asian
country, official news agency Xinhua reported Thursday.
No details were provided on the value of the purchase agreement or on the
time frame for first deliveries of gas, according to Xinhua, which cited a
statement on CNPC website.
CNPC General Manager Jiang Jiemin signed the agreement with Uzbekneftegaz
Chairman Ulugbek Nazarov in the Uzbekistan capital Tashkent on Wednesday. The
deal was inked during Chinese President Hu Jintao visit to Uzbekistan, where
he was attending the tenth annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation
Organization.
The two sides would first work to connect Uzbekistan natural gas
transmission system with the China-Uzbekistan pipeline, CNPC said. The
China-Uzbekistan gas pipeline is part of the larger 1,833 km (1,136 mile)
China-Central Asia gas pipeline that opened in December 2009, linking fields
in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to northwest China Xinjiang.-Kuala Lumpur (Platts)
