| CNPC signs agreement to buy gas from Uzbekistan | | 日期:10-06-24 | | State-owned China National Petroleum Corporation, the parent company of oil giant PetroChina, has signed a framework agreement with Uzbekneftegaz to buy 10 billion cubic meters/year of natural gas from the central Asian country, official news agency Xinhua reported Thursday. No details were provided on the value of the purchase agreement or on the time frame for first deliveries of gas, according to Xinhua, which cited a statement on CNPC website. CNPC General Manager Jiang Jiemin signed the agreement with Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Ulugbek Nazarov in the Uzbekistan capital Tashkent on Wednesday. The deal was inked during Chinese President Hu Jintao visit to Uzbekistan, where he was attending the tenth annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The two sides would first work to connect Uzbekistan natural gas transmission system with the China-Uzbekistan pipeline, CNPC said. The China-Uzbekistan gas pipeline is part of the larger 1,833 km (1,136 mile) China-Central Asia gas pipeline that opened in December 2009, linking fields in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to northwest China Xinjiang.-Kuala Lumpur (Platts) |
